One of the local stores around here has a Fluval C2 HOB filter. I cant find anything on Fluval/Hagan's site about this thing. I have seen other forums with reviews by users but nothing offical from Fluval. Is this new and no listing or is this old and no listing. THe user reviews say its a good unit. I need to get a filter for my 10G as the one that is on it finally died.

Looks like a new product to me. I had a fluval hob that came with one of my 55g tanks a couple of years ago and it was a real noisy sob. I tossed that thing in the trash. I have a marineland hob for my QT that is much quieter. Who knows, maybe I just got a bad one. Even with a new impeller in it the motor drove me nuts.

All the forums I have read said that it is real quiet and has plent of compartments for media in it. Its kinda expensive, but once I put my zoos in the tank, the price wont bother me so much. I just gotta get the lighting for the tank. Local store sells it for $32 i think. Kinda pricey for a 10g HOB but the thing looks real nice. media for it aint so bad in price but I would still use chemi-pure for the carbon.

Yeah it looks like a nifty little filter. What's $32 in this hobby? 10g or not you'll spent that kinda dough in no time. Worth a shot IMO.

i think they do. But i am in the boat of $32 is small enough to eat if it doesnt work. I doubt that will happen though. This Fluval HOB is definatly not on par with the Tetra I have now. Tetra POS.

I have used fluval in tank filters and canister filters and love them, so I am inclined to think the HOB would be just as good. They seem to be a newer product.

Hey Monsi, i like the Aqua Clear - I use them on a lot of my FW set ups, what ever you do get one that is double or triple the capicty they say it is for. If you get a Auquaclear 50 you probably have room for a small fuge.

+1 on Als comment....I made fuges out of AC filters pretty easily. They were a lil noisy in the 1st couple days, as i had them full open to break in. Actually the noise from the water is the loudest part! I currently have an enhim200 on my 10, its the lagest one and comes with 2 sponges, 2 carbon sheets....room in the middle for bacterial matter and i threw the carbon sheets out and added the carbon bags from the aquaclears....imoe

Once I get some spare $ I will pick up the fluval HOB from a LFS and let ya'll know what I think. BTW, I posted this from my new cell phone. I have been playing with it for the past several days. I like it loads. Its a HTC My Touch 3G Slide. All these android apps are awesome. Kids love angry birds!

I got the filter today. I will make a box opening video and post it here. After a while, I will give my thoughts on it.

edit: Forgot to mention that Evie performed wonderfully as the camerawoman. I have it up and running now, fairly quiet. I need to have more water in the tank and then it would be perfectly quiet. The flow in the tank is great. I might not need a PH in there when the zoos are in there. I probably will get a really small PH though just to be safe. Replacement media isnt too terrible. The carbon basket is large enough to hold a 5.5 oz bag of chemi-pure. The filter/sponge on the back has 2 sides to it. Side 1 is a sponge like filter and the other side is filterfloss like. The white filter on top of the wet/dry is also a biological filter. This thing should be keeping the tank clean for a long time.

After having this filter for a few days, I can say the only noise this thing makes is the little dripping when the tank water level is a little low. I can ease back the flow rate and the noise goes away. With a full tank of water, flow on high, this thing is quiet. Now all i need is the LEDs for this tank and I can put it to the real test. I like the filter so much that I have debated replacing the tetra whisper filter in my daughters FW tank with one of these.
