enough means, enough to remove as much weaste as your adding. there is no way I can accuratly answer what defines enough. without knowing exactly how much is going in what the bioload is, what your going to use for substrate. how much LR etc.

you want LR and LS in your system whether its in the tank itself or in a refuge of some sort. usually when you see a frag tank with neither of the two in it, these can be found in some other section of the system. ex...fuge, DIY HOB filter,,,,also a little macro in there and you'll have a sufficient frag system...
you can make your own in tank sump basically. this can be done with a piece of plexi glass, power head, tubing to make a spray par, LR and LS, some macro...ive seen them done and look very well also...

you have to have something for biofiltration. often times youll see a SSB and rubble used, or a sump/fuge setup with a bare grow out tank. if your going to input any nbutrients at all you need some sort of filtration, food creates ammonia, without biofiltration your going to kill everything with ammonia spiking.
my frag tank is going to have a 55g sump/fuge and a 25gx high for rock to leave my grow trays empty of media. I also intend to run a filter sock or sponge to catch all the food that I will be pounding into the tank to speed growth.
