Filter not working

in two days, my LR and LS is coming and my filter isn't working. it's motorizing and all but it's not sucking in. I took it to my lfs and guess what?? It secides to work just fine!!!!!!!!! So i brought it home and did what he did (looked at all the parts with it empty, put it all back together and then filled it with water) it worked for about a day and now it doesn't want to work....it's making a gergerling sound.....:confused: so any help would be great

well it works now....thanks for the help....i pushed it tight on but i don't think that was the problem.....i put my powerhead up to the end of the intake tube and it pushed water up to get out any air bubbles(i'm guessing) and it jump started the flow!!! :D so thanks again
