Whatever filter you're talking about will most likely work fine--my question is are you thinking, when you say a "matured filter", that you will cycle faster?? Not the case, nor will mature water speed things up. The ls/lr will get you cycling , but don't expect it to go any faster.
Good Luck

Just about everything that lives in freshwater will soon perish when placed in saltwater(although there are exceptions). If you had a filter that was in an established saltwater tank, then it would help with the cycling process. For when you get your tank going again... Has the freshwater filter had ANY type of medication in it? If so, don't use it. Just set your tank up, and add the sand and LR(let it cycle this way also). IMO, you should add some Cycle(live BENIFICIAL bacteria) that would REALLY help speed up the cycle if thats what your trying to do.... haha, hope some of this helps you, but look into the cycle, you'll thank me later. :D
