Filter question

I have a 55g with a pen double bio wheel and a aquaC skimmer.. would adding a whisper 20-40 filter help any?

how much live rock and sand do you have and do you have a sump setup.
usually if you have enough rock and sand in the tank with good flow thats really all the filtration that you need.

I only have about 50 lbs of rock and 90 pounds sand..about 20 more pounds of rock next week..I just found this old filter thought it my help some.. no sump
