i got a 40 witha fluval 304, dsb (ls) (3-4") and about 30 lbs of lr., my ? is should i dump the fluval and get a wet/dry.. my lfs is having 30% off this week so i fiqured nows the time to do it.. and also the sump can that be used for refugium too ? i kinda wouldnt mind hiding my heater and have a refugium/wet/dry in all one tank. this will be a fish only tank with maybe a Anemone for a clown or 2

You can't go wrong with a wet/dry. Fluval is decent for fish only. Wet/dry is the best way to go, if you can swing it, then get!

I would use either in a FO tank. I would use niether in a Reef Tank. For a good reef tank LR, LS and a Good protine skimmer is all the filtration you will need. with Reef aquarium's keep it simple for success. HTH & JMO

aggressive, i would go with a wet dry, howver, an aggresive tank really should be larger, most aggressive fish are not only larger, but much messier and should have larger tanks with larger bio filters
for a reef, i would look into a skimmer, actually in an aggressive i would go with a skimmmer too(before the wet dry) and get a better one(personally i do NOT like wet dry's except for large very aggresive fish only tanks)
and if you are getting anemones(which i really don't reccomend to start with) then i would DEFINITELY loose teh fluval and get a good skimmer instead, i would probably still use the fluval without media just for circulation
as for teh sump, yes it could be set up to be used as a sump/refugium, but for a refugium to be best effective it should be gravity fed back into the tank(but it would still work fine)
