filter setup question...

Ok, so i have now acquired several tanks. I have a 55g, 58g, and a 60g. How would you setup your filtration system?? I'm still fairly new at this and would appreciate all hints as to what would be the best way to set them up. We're thinking of setting one up as a reef tank and another as an aggressive tank.

If it were me, I'd set them up as independent tanks. Each with it's own sump/fuge. The thing is the aggressive tank would be a nitrate farm most likely. Whereas the reef would need to be more pristine. Also, if combined an issue in one tank translates to an issue for both/all. Keep 'em separated and you will be better off IMO. I'd use a 20 long and do a diy fuge for each. With NNR SB, LRR, Macro algae, and a decent skimmer. The octo extreme 160, or it's twin the MSX extreme 160 would be an awesome choice. Additionally a phosban reactor would be a good purchase. Of course a good R/O, RO/DI unit is beneficial from the start.

Yeah, we weren't ever considering combining systems. I would only want independent filtration. Easier to keep things under control per environment.
