That is what I was just reading. I also came across a fabulous article about using protein skimmers with nano tanks. Wow is it ever good.
Basically it says that using skimmers on nano tanks is something that should not be done. They not only draw all the good things out of the water including the cope pods but they also will starve out your corals by taking all the nutrients out too.
You will then have to add these necessary nutrients back into the tank.
They claim using a normal filter, powerhead (optional) weekly water changes and using a good salt mix is all you need to maintain a good healthy nano tank.
