Filter suggestions

As I stated in another thread, I have been out of the hobby since around 2005 and am starting again but with a smaller tank. My last tank was 180g and I built a custom sump to fit under the stand I made, the sump had a protein skimmer chamber a return chamber and a refuge. My new tank is a 55 hex, the stand is kind of limited on space. I was thinking of setting up an overflow (or two) and have it run down to a sump, but I only have about 12" x 20" footprint in the stand. Should I build my own sump? and if so how would you design it? Are there any better options for filter setups these days on a reef tank?
Thanks again for all the help

Honestly I'd build my own sump.....IMO the best there is......I do remember your previous thread....Save space and do a single center overflow....Trying to stuff 2 in the tank will eat up space.....
As far as layout checkout melevsreef dot com.....He gives you all the low down on how to lay it out and has some pretty good examples and possibly something unique for your situation....HTH
