Are bak-pak filter systems considered a wet/dry type if so should i remove the bio material from the one chamber now that my tank is established. I have been adding sand to create a DSB and have approx 20lbs of live rock. Iam trying to work down to that 0 nitrate level. Right now running about 7-8

Depends on what you consider established. How long has the tank been up and running?? How big is it?? What fish and/or corals are in there??How long has the sand been in there,and was it Live sand??

the tank has been running about 7 months it is 40 gallons i have 4 small fish, 5 corals serpent star and a cleanup crew. I originally had about 2 in of sand, last week I added another 20 lbs of sand mixed with 4 lbs live sand. Things were going good for the first 4 months untill i switched salt mixtures and didnt realize the second brand didnt have a declorinater untill i noticed my nitrates going up so i think i might of killed off alot of my bacteria. so iam trying to rejuvinate my sand bed
