Filter with Bio-wheel

medic63,
A bio-wheel is a form of wet/dry filtration; it is a good addition to power filters and canister filters because it increases thier biological load, therefore producing better quality water. What kinda of filtration are you running now?

currently running undergravel with two 400gph powerheads and two magnum 350 canister filters, was thinking of adding a third 350 canister with a bio-wheel to help keep the tank clear. Was told that the undergravel has a tendency to cloud the water, although this has not yet been a problem, the tank is a new setup with 10 damselfish and I would like to ensure good filtration. :)

medic63,
The thing about a bio-wheel is that it's sole purpose is to aid biological filtration so it will not make your water any clearer. Adding another magnum may help but if you already have two you could always just use your micron attachment if it ever got cloudy. These things are great, they can remove very small particales from your tank but only run it a couple hours at a time otherwise you will have to buy a new one like every other week cause they get dirty quick and are not as effective..

The new magnum 350 I was thinking of getting has a Bio-wheel attachment to it and I was thinking of using it as a replacement to an older 350 that is in place now or to put it in place as an extra filter, by doing this I could put the micron attachment on the third canister to aid if it does get cloudy. this sound like a plan ?
thanks for your help :D

Definitely get bio wheels they are a great way to re-purify the water and they never have to be changed in my Emporer 400 so its no hassle either.
Later!
