ok tell me what you think i have 2 filters running on my 55 horse tank, one is a penguin bio wheel 350 plenty big enough for the tank, and i also run a 250 bio wheel on the other side mostly because i already had it.my thought is to turn the 250 off and just use the 350. the 250 is loud and creates more bubbles than i'm comfortable with, my concern is that, that side of the tank wont get enough water flow, can i put a very little power head on that side, just to move the water, like 40gph or something.
let me know what you think.
thanks larry

Sounds fine to me, but it would really help to see a full pic of the tank to see where the filters are placed. Also how many gph do the filter do that you plan to use?

here it is the reason i cant put in the middle is the top brace.
the one im keeping it the one on the right, i thought about a power head in the back left corner pointing toward the middle if the tank

That's sounds fine, however, do you have all you intake flows covered with black sponges?

the power head is one with a flat bottom, it will be ok i dont on the filter because it has a upper and a lower intake and it doesnt have much pull and they gone right up to it and have had no problems, you think i should find some

Please!!!!!!!! DO NOT leave it to chance!!!!!!!! I lost a seahorse because I assumed the flow was low enough. It's not the flow rate...once the seahorse get stuck to the intake flow they are not strong enough to swim/pull off of the intake flow. The result is a painful death by suffication.

This, in my experience is a good thing. By swimming about your horses are showing that they are enjoying and comfortable in their habitat.
I just attached my Eheim Pro2 to my 15 gallon seahorse tank. As soon as I turn the pump on, all the horses came out to investigate. One thing I have witnessed, when you change or alter the water flow the horses will come out to test the currents. Since they are weak swimmers, they need to learn how the currents move to use them to their best abilities.
this thread has examples of what my horses did in different flows.

I have an Eheim also and my small one loves the currents. I put a plant mat around the spraybar but finally removed it because everyone was sulking at the bottom of the tank. Now I have horses swimming the waves again.
