Filtering out the particle in my tank

Right now, I am not really running any filters except for LR and cheato. I know that it can be a nitrate trap, but is there any way to filter out the bigger particles that I see floating around my DT? Could I buy one of those filter pads and stick it between one of my baffles, so the water has to run through it? Thanks guys!

You mentioned about baffles, mean that you have a sum/refugium right? If you do, you can use filter sock at the end of the overflow hose to catch those particles. I use it and it helps to keep my tank's water clean. Hope it helps.

That what I have and very happy with it. Depend how "Dirty" the tank is, you will need to clean the filter sock more often. I clean it with regular water first and then put it in a bowl of bleach. Let it there over night. Then rinse it very well with water. Air dry it until you don't smell any more bleach. Done that for over a year and no problem at all. I learned that from this site. Good luck

The only draw back to filter socks is the catch pods and smaller snails. If you have baffles you could always place carbon (in a couple of the media bags) and place in between them for a day or so to see if that helps. BTW do you have any idea what the particles are?
