filters for 125gal

Hi
I have just bought a 125 gal tank and was wondering about filters for it.I have searched here and have found nothing that has helped me,so I am thinking of a rena filstar xp3 or xp4,but I have been told its not good too run them alone and of the two what one is better suited for that size of tank and can I it alone it mainly will be fowlr tank

i would go with the 4 for that size tank. i use and xp3 on my 55g fresh tank and an xp 2 and skimmer on a 55g salt tank...
sump if you can do it is the way to go

If you can do it a sump & or fuge would be the way to go. I have both on my 125. My sump has my skimmer, Heater(I don't even use it since I upgraded to MH), Filters & my fuge is starting to really take off with macroalgea. I can tell my fuge is working because I don't have to clean my glass as often as I used to.
