Filters intake

Hey i have a emperor 400 that came with the 60g i bought. The pumps intank is just about touching the bottem of then tank what will happen when i add sand? Should i avoid that area? IM going with fine grain sand at the bottem so lemmi know what you think.

Shorten the intake tube.
If you get sand in the pump it will burn up the pump. How deep is the tank?
Is that the original intake tubing? Seems odd that it would be that long.

the tank is 24 3/4 " high and the filter is about a inch n 3/4 from the bottem what should i do to trouble shoot and im not sure if its orginal i bought it as is from a private seller

Like mentioned above, you need to remove one of the intake extenstions and then it should be fine. I have the Aqua Clear Filter and you can add on extenstions so that the intake sits lower in the water, yours probably has the same thing.

I have an emperor 400 on my 29 gal. I bought it new and I didn't add the extension tube. It only hangs about 12" down into my tank.
