:notsure: THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I AM TRY TO SET UP A SALT WATER TANK! IT IS 55 GAL, CAN I USE THE UNDER GROUND FILTER LIKE I HAVE USED IN MY FRESH WATER TANK?

plz turn off your caps lock, makes it sound liek you are yelling.
no, undergorund filters are bad in SW tanks, SW tansk are no where near FW tanks, plz read up and know what your getting into BEFORE you set up the tank.
you must cycle the tank, and you should use ro/di water, you cant have many larger fish in a 55, you will need live rock, and if you want a reef(very good lighting)
please search the boards and ready many books.

Yes turn caps off lol. And I beleive it is an undergravel filter lol. I do agree dont use them you should use sand instead of crushed coral and an undergravel filter will just suck the sand up and blow it back in the tank creating an endless dust effect.

i would bury that "underground filter", then turn off the caps lock and put on your glasses. then :) ask away and i'm sure we'll answer any question you have in this freakin' great hobby!!! it's completely different from freshwater and confuses the heck out of me dealing with both, but good god salt is soo much buttah!
