i have a 29 gallon set up and i have just gotten a foxface recently and he is a pooping machine. i have a HOB filter and a 10 gallon fuge with a skimmer but the HOB is a cheapy that came with the tank. i feel like im lacking on mechanical filtration. i currently have a cleaner shrimp and a few hermits for a CUC. should i beef up my crew or look at a high quality HOB for better mechanical filtration.
Input would be appreciated

IMO, a 29 is too small for a foxface. Mechanical filtration really isn't the answer to fish poop. Fish waste breaks down very quickly into ammonia, and other stuff, and is taken care of by your biological filter. This decomposition happens in the mech filter too. Don't worry, you're not going to be hip-deep in fish poop---just let your bio-filter work.

i cleaned out my HOB and increased the turnover rate through my sump and the mess is cleared up much faster. Thank you guys for the input.
As for the foxface, he is a little guy and he seems to be extremely happy and health fish, hes not changing his colors or showing any signs of stress. i do agree that he will need a bigger tank in the future tho
