filtration question

I've been reading alot of posts and wonder what the best filter set up is. I've had my 12gal nano set up for around 5 months and things are looking okay so far. I have two false perculas and a small clean up crew, five turban snails, stomalla varia(hitchhiker), small feather duster that came with the LR and a few brown mushroom corals. 15 pounds of live rock and about 18 pounds of LS
I left in the sponges, the bio balls and the ceramic pieces when I started out and theyr'e still in place. I guess I'm hesitant to change things for fear I'll throw off my water levels which are good and stress my clowns.
I'm thinking about one of the fission skimmers for nano's and pulling out all the stuff in the back of the tank but hoped I could get some feedback .
THANKS

OK, nanotwelve, you can get off your knees now.

I'm not familiar with the fission skimmer so can't comment on that but, if your nano has been running fine for 5 months and everything is looking good why do you wnat to change it???
There's an old saying, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it."

Yes, a skimmer is an important piece of equipment but on a nano of twelve gallons I think it is a marketing ploy. You know, "If we build it, they will buy it"
, kind of thing. I assume you are doing water changes so just enjoy the friuits of your labor.
