Filtration/skimmer on a 12g Nanocube

I'm picking up someone's established 12 gallon JBJ Nanocube today. They also have one of those Fission nanoskimmers that they're going to throw in. Just wondering what people who own this particular cube use for their filtration. Does the Fission skimmer work well, is it effective? What are people putting in the different compartments of the filter chamber? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

From what I've heard many times, the fission is junk. With a 12g you don't need a skimmer, just keep up on the water change. The only things that I keep in my back chambers is live rock, a bag of carbon, and a small piece of filter floss.
