just starting tank, gettin protein skimmer soon and need to know if u just by the skimmer n not ne thing else(like w. a freshwater filter you can put coal n substances in the filter to make the water more healthy for your fish) do i need to but ne thing else?
and if i hav live rock already in my tank chillin is it ok if i dont hav a protein skimmer???

No, a skimmer is not enough. And yes, you do need Live Rock with the skimmer.
