No way. The greater the turnover rate the better. Reefs need 3-4 times greater than the tank's gallon for gph, and sharks need 7 times turnover rate.

you can never have too much filtration ever. more the better
 
i have the fluval 305. i want to add a better filtration but i don't want to wast this new filter. I was thinking about another 305 or even adding a wett/dry filter that later when i upgrade to a larger tank i have a filter. My tank is only a 65 tall. what other type of filtration are there.

if u hv plenty of lr for bio filtration. try a power filter like penguin 350. thats what i am using in a 72 gallon reef. its been running like that for 1 year now.

I have about 100 lbs or more of LR. This penguin 350, does the water flow come out strong or does it just roll out.
