Fin rot?

Hi,
I have a clown trigger that I have had for about a year now. I have had the clown since he was a juvy. The past week after a water change he has been hiding out in the rock. He does not come out like he used to. I don't think he is eating also. Today I noticed that his rear fins are looking stringy. He looks like he is loosing scales. Not sure, he has spots that look pink or flesh color. So I am assuming that there was a loss of scales. Like they are rotting away. I talked to LFS and they gave my mother some Kanacyn. They also told us to do a fresh water dip for about 3 to 5 minutes. Then place him in quarintine. I performed the fresh water dip and now have him in a bucket by himself. I applied the Kanacyn within the bucket.
My question is will this work? Is there another solution? Please help I love my clown trigger to death and would be mortified if I lose him.
Thanks

The symptoms sound like a bacterial infection. You will need to QT the fish and treat with antibiotics.
How long have you had the fish and what are your water readings?

I have had him for about a year now. The water levels were all good. I tool to the LFS and they double checked everything. But unfortunatly I lost him this morning.....

I think it might of come from the live brine I got a my LFS. I just don't understand. But thank you for your help.
