Fin Rot?

We have a Flame Angel that has fin rot. We placed him in a QT to treat him.
I have noticed that one of the Green Damsels has fin rot now.
How long should I keep them in the QT tank? The Flame Angel's side fins were almost gone.
What causes fin rot?
Will all my fish get it?
What is the best way to get rid of it and prevent it.
Thanks,
Tracy

About 3 weeks ago almost all the fish had some little white spots on them.
We got the QT tank and got it going and placed the Flame Angel in it. My husband didnt see any spots on the fish and just placed the Angel in the the tank, I wanted all fish in it.
The QT tank hasn't cycled, we are checking the levels everyday.
My little Clarkii Clown has a few spots on him, the best way for me to explain what he looke like is this way.....it looks like he has been rolled in ashes, his black isn't a bold color like the other Clarkii.
My husband checked the water a day ago and it was fine.
Should I put all my fish in the QT?

Ich looks as if salt has been sprinkled on the fish. Is that what you saw?
How big is your QT? Do you have a reef tank?

Some of the fish looked like they yhad been sprinkled then it went away. We have been feeding them garlic soaked food since. The QT is a 10 gallon. The show tank is a 55 gallon with three corals and a cleanup crew.

Well, you can't put all your fish in a 10 gal QT. But, if you have ich, ALL fish need to be treated.
