About one out of a thousand cool tank pics are done with regular cameras anymore......seems to me that digital has passed them by......what do you guys think? I can even print out pics at 1200 DPI from my PC printer, and that is not even at full resolution for what the camera CAN do.....never even tried to take digi film to a real photo place and get them on real film.......I can honestly say digital cameras sucked just a few years ago compared to high end regualar cameras, but the g3 Rye helped me out with takes pics as good as the regualar camera my fiances parents payed thousands for......and the g3 is MUCH MUCH better with tank pics.............opinions? Regualar cameras don't change much, but at the rate digital is improving......not even a contest here in a few years........I have never owned a regular camera that would let me take a clear shot of a weird curve of a nose hair........digitals that are affordable can do it already, and they are advancing very quckly still. Old school die hards may disagree, but I think digital pics are the way of the future until something comes out even better.

Sammy- I have used my canon AE1 and a Minolta x700 for a billion years and both are great cameras for me. Manual SLR's, I love em. Then I got one of the more modern cameras, still 35 mm automatics, and still loved my SLR's, even picked up an elph2 which takes those paneramic shots, great color, sharp focus. but you still couldn't do what you could with a manual SLR. Now have gone an ordered the G5, my first digi cam. From all you guys have talked about I sure hope that I won't be dissapointed. Be a shame to let those other cameras collect dust, cause I still love them.

Thomas, I really hope you like reading and tinkering around with camera's. The instructions you are going to get are to say the least unreal. There are things in a digital that will make you scratch your head wondering now how did I just do that. Have fun with your new toy and enjoy.:D

Yea I've been warned about the digi instructions, but hey when I started this hobby I found out that I had to be a Chemist, Plumber, Marine biologist, why not add cameras to the mix?. Believe me Rye will be getting alot of questions from me.

somthing I learned while working with ryebread...real cameras are argued to be about the same as 10-20 megapixels...and right now the only digital camera that can compete with film cameras is the 8000$ canon...can't remember the name...
