1st congrats on adding your first fish. Second percs are always better in pairs. Being that he is still new to the tank, I think adding another soon will be ok. If I were you get the next one smaller than the one that is in there. That way it wont be so inclined to retailiate if the other gets a bit pushy. Also the smaller one will eventually become the female as they are typically asexual when they are first introduced to a tank. Thats what I was told anyway.
As for his behavior, IMO its completly normal. Being a true perc would only make that behavior more natural as he is kinda in shock from all that has happened to him. Some people have said it can take up to 2 weeks or more for them to come out of their shell. I have 2 false percs and you can def see a difference, they acted as if nothing ever happened to them when I added them to my tank.
CONGRATS AGAIN

Your tank setup looks good! Don't worry, your clown will start exploring the tank once he feels comfortable. It's not unusual for them to just hang out in one area for a while. Your lfs was correct, you shouldn't add another one or they will fight. If you want 2, then they should be purchased as a mated pair, or added at the same time when they are very young.

Actually, the one that is larger and more dominant becomes the female. If the female in a group dies, then one of the males changes into the female.

Not meaning to Hijack your thread, but it goes along with the thread.
I thought that Percs were the only clowns that could be added together with out much of a problem.
So, should they be bought at the same time?
Anyways, congrats on your first fish! What are you going to name him!? I love clowns I have always found there character to be adorable!
From what I have read (I don't have one so I can't say from experience.) That is normal when you first put the fish in. He will hang out at a corner for quite sometime. Then you will leave and come back, and he is off chilling in a new corner. He will be running through your tank in no time.

Ahhh well then I stand corrected. Sometimes you dont always get information that is correct. I was told it was the opposite. But it does make sense typically the female is the larger of the 2 in the species.
My only reason for saying that if he added another true perc in now there may not be any issues, because the 1st one is still getting used to its surroundings and kinda still in shock maybe he could add it with out a major issue. Although its just an idea I dont know for sure.

Only going by what I have seen, and I have only seen this for True Perc's.
They actually say mated pair on the tank, I have never seen them in a community only the 2 by themselves in a tank and they are quite a bit more $$. THe place I saw them at they were $99 for the pair.

A pair is ones that have laid eggs. If you buy 2 young ones they will become a pair after time. Alot cheaper also.

thankx for all the comments and responses guy..i'll get another true perc maybe today or 2morrow. my lfs separate all the true percs. none of them are kept together but the false clowns they keep like 6 or 7 seven in one tank. true perc. are more aggressive towards other clownfish and false are more nicer.. to answer ninja's ?. so u have to be carefull if not a mated pair. hope mine become one.. be soo cool to see them swim together..
