Finally getting some algae

My little tank has been running with fish in it, and some crabs, since April, and is now getting some greenish-brown algae on the front glass where the hang-on filter pushes the water out and hits the front glass. (wow, what a run-on sentence)
The tank is lighted with an incandescent bulb of low wattage, and the new growth is directly beneath the light. Should I wipe it off and think nothing of it, or leave it on as a beneficial, yet unsightly organism?

I would definatly wipe it off. Then start looking for a better lighting setup.Incandesant lighting is not what you want over a saltwater tank.It will not promote the growth of "good"algae, and can cause this "bad"algae to get out of controle. you should at least have fluorescent lights.
