Had to get a Usb card for the computer thats why it's taking so long to get the pictures up. I can't get the new driver installed b/c I lost the windows 98 cd. So hopefully I can find a friend or someone that has it. Can you buy windows 98 anymore??

Now I'm mad. The USB cable is installed, but i cant get the pictures from the camera onto the computer. The manuel says just plug in the cable to the computer and turn the camera on and it should recognize it. Well no such luck. So I don't know what to do now.

Ok, heres what happend. I istalled the usb card on windows 98 and it said place you windows 98cd in the drive. I lost my windows 98 cd. So I asked the computer store down here and they said I could update and it would do the same. So I updated to Windows Xp. After updating I went to Add hardware and it says it is working properly. So I don't know where the usb drive is located to put my pictures on. Thanks for your link, I guess that's not the problem. I don't know what to do now.

Did you try the USB port in the front of your computer? My mother had the same issue - and that is where she has to plug hers into. I have a dock with mine so I just press the button and go to Start Button, My Pics, and then it prompts me to get pictures from camera or scanner - I also have XP, so your prompts should be the same. Hope this helps.

My new and old camera worked the same way.....I plugged it in, and had to click off the camera and scanner wizard every time because I don't use it....:D I would either go into my computer where the camera will show as a drive F, the cameras name, or something, and click it there, or go straight to a photo editor and open my computer from there. If you plug it in, does it then show in "my computer"?

No it doesnt. Thats why I think it's not fully installed. And I don't know where it is located on the computer to install it.

You could try this.
Shut down the computer.
Remove the USB card.
Restart the computer. Fool around on swf.com for a little bit. Shut down the computer.
Reinstall the USB card.
Restart the computer.
(The computer should then say that it has found new hardware and is looking for the drivers)
If needed put in the CD with the drivers for the USB card. This may not be needed. The drivers may already be installed with Windows XP.
Then try and hook up your computer to the camera and see what happens.
It sounds like your computer did a partial install on the USB card. So it thinks it is there. However since the install was not complete it cannot access the USB. This procedure may do a correct install of the USB card.
Try this and let's see what happens. It is not working anyway so what does it hurt to try something.
Post what happens. Windows may do some funny things during the install.
A question. I am assuming since you were running Windows 98 that your is a little older and did computer did not come with any USB ports so you had to add a card for the USB ports?

I tried that but let me try that again. Yes the computer didn't have any usb ports. The computer has been updated so much it's pretty much a new computer. So let me try taking it out again and I'll report what happens

Are you saying that you plugged a PCI to USB adapter card into a PCI slot which gave you USB posts?? OK, then if so...USB isn't a drive or card really, just call it a "port". Did you try downloading the software in my link? It is for your camera specifically, and provided by Kodak...the easyshare software has replaced the picture software anyway. Have you installed the drivers ofr the USB ports?? There should have been a disc that came with it. Have you checked if they work with some other USB device? Try looking in the control panel/system/device manager, and see if there is a yellow exclamation point showing it has problems. Check to see if the USB port is working first. You can also delete it from the device manager tab in system in the control panel, and then restart the computer so that windows will find it again and search for correct drivers. The USB ports you added definately need drivers if windows didn't have them.

Sure Sammy, have him do it the easy way. (I forgot abut simply reloading the drivers with device manager. Man I can be such an idiot at times) I have XP at home and am going to try and walk him through it, may be a little slow using e-mail.
Ty. I will be home around 12:30 Pacific time. Do you have instant messaging. It might be easier that way. Oh yeah you can put the card in if you took it out. Make sure it is seated all the way. Looks like we will do this Sammy's way.
