This is my second time testing and applying with the Rockford Police Department. They have you do a physical test consisting of a sit and reach test, 37 situps in a minute, bench press 97% of body weight, and last a 1.5 mile run done in under 13:46 which was a tough one for me as i've never been a distance runner of any sort. Always took medals in sprints but never long stuff. After that you take a written test, which you submit a writing sample and take a scan-tron style test on basic knowledge etc. etc..
Anyhow I passed the first time, and unfortunately they had too many people applying and not enough spots for everyone who was applying. There were like 100+ people who made it past the physical and written test and only 8 spots to fill. So needless to say I didn't get an interview.
Well they tested again I passed everything, did better on the written test first time i scored 89% this time 93%. Finished all of the large app. including copies of birth certificate, social card, marriage license, and school transcripts. It's a good deal of leg work if you don't keep this stuff just lying around the house. Much of it I had to have mailed from california as i'm not native to Illinois. Ah well, it's nice to be finished and ready to hear from them. So all in all, wish me luck. I feel much more comfortable this time around and I really am looking forward to being a cop.
Enough of that. Just wanted to share.
