Man, I sure put this off as long as I could. But now that I did, what the hell was I waiting for? It looks 10 times better

Looks nice...a simple improvement that really pays off. The black background gives the impression of depth and sets off the colors of coral and fish. Mine was painted black when I set it up...can't see the background now for all the coraline.

we also painted our tank black.
We mixed a very dark blue and black. Its almost fully black but if you really look it has a blue tint.
we use regular old latex paint. we used latex for a few reasons but mainly because it will scrape off glass very easy if i ever want to remove it

What's a better choice of color to bring out coral details and give depth to a tank? Is it black or blue? Mine is currently blue, and I"ve never seen one w/ a black background so I don't know how to compare.
I'm setting up a 180g this summer and would like to purchase the right background color.
SO.......... blue or black :)

i have a hob filter, hob protein skimmer hangin off the back and its like 6 inches from the wall
i think im just gonna get that adhesive stuff off the internet or tape a black background from the lfs on there

ya howd you do it, with a brush?, if you can use a brush i could probably get away with it without moving it, just do one half at a time

find a smaller version of a roller. that is what i used and I probably only have 4 inches between the wall and my tank. just buy one of the real small cans of paint and you are set. probably wouldnt cost you $10 to do it
