Fine Dining in NYC

My wife and I are planning a nice night out to NYC in the next few weeks. I want to get us reservations at a really nice restaurant... Im finding that doing searches for "fine dining in NYC" is useless because so many places come up... We are in pa and dont get up to the city very often so we dont know of any good places... preferably italian... something romantic and since we never go out, the price doesnt really matter either

It's not italian but probably the most romantic place I've been in NYC is One if by land Two if by sea. Looking forward to going back next time I'm there!

For really good food try Becco's on 46th between 8th and 9th. For a really fancy place with a great view of the city try Windows on the World in the Marriott Hotel in Mid Town. That place is at the top of the building and slowly rotates around, it's expensive also.

I'll second Peter Luger Steakhouse. It's definitely worth it. Located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I strongly suggest a reservation if your going on a weekend. At least 2 weeks in advance. I make reservations in December for Valentine's Day. Go figure.
