Finger Leather problems

I have 3 finger leathers that i bought together interconnected on two pieces of rock. I believe the middle leather that is attached to both pieces of rock has died. It has been wilted over for days and looks like it is starting to deteriorate. However the other two appear to be perfectly healthy. If this coral does turn out to be dead I know I need to remove it as soon as possible, but was wondering if I could just detach it from the ajoining pieces of rock without causing a nitrate spike or affecting the other two.
Thanks

Leathers wilt and shed the outter skin, it's normal behavior.
