Fire Shrimp - aka The Two Finger Bandit

The Two Finger Bandit coming out to see what I was doing with a camera. I gave him that name because I fed my trumpet coral one night and as the food was being brought into the corals mouth he came running up and stole it out of the coral. Earning his name. That wasn't the first time....

Very cool, I would love to get one for my tank, but I have a mated pair of Harlequin Shrimp and 2 cleaners, I dont know if they would get along? But he looks great!

i had the exact same experince, when ever i tried to feed my anenome it would just steal the food, even worse, when i tried to feed my scooter blenny with a stick or letting it float to the sand, the shrimps would scare off the scooter making it starve. Luckly i got rid of them both, for the blenny's sake, i gave the fire to my friend and the scarlet's in the 55

Yeah. He goes nuts at feeding time. Whatever gets by the chromis he usually snatches. I usually feed him along with the corals whenever i feed the corals. I give the hermits some too cause they come running.

I love my fireshrimp. I don't have him in with harlequins but he gets along great with the cleaner shrimp. I do suspect him of eating all my yellow star polyps and he may be working in the green ones now, but I can't catch him at it......

On the feeding to keep the fireshrimp and the two cleaners from stealing from the meat eating corals, I make sure they have a nice little chunk of food to keep them busy first.
