firefish dying

Okay so my firefish is dying...
Last night ~4am he was doing fine apparently (couldn't find him, which is normal). This morning around 11am found him apparently stuck looking(in retrospect he wasnt) in a rock corner. Gently netted him and brought him to the surface. Didnt look so hot, top fin wasn't up and he was struggling it looked like in fits. Released from the net and he did a dive bomb straight to the bottom head first and HIT the bottom w/ his head. Slowly made his way to a ledge while struggling. It looks like he has no power over his swim bladder and that his head is just rock heavy.
Any thoughts to what's wrong? I'm watching him every now and then, waiting for either him to start floating or the hermits to start gathering in which case I'll flush him

How long have you had him? Do you have your tank lights on 4am usually?

Well first off he became hermit food.
My first casualty. I've had him for 17 days. No, tank lights are not on at 4am, dont worry. I just happened to be up and walking around at that time. I have moonlights on the tank that allow me to see a little bit. The other 3 fish in the tank (1 more firefish) are all doing fine. Percs even began to host yesterday.
