see this is why i will never put a firefish in my nano again. i bought one thinking, great this guys will do really well in my tank. he would jump in the back of my nano durring the day, jump back into the tank at night, and in the morning when i would turn the lights on, he would jump right back to the rear of the tank. he loved my powerhead i guess.

firefish are not the only fish that like to jump around in nano's ....lol
i had a neon dottyback dissappear for almost 4 weeks only to be found in the rear compartment. i had even looked in there several times as i had similar problems with firefish also jumping.
lucky for me i had to clean the pump screen a found the little bugger in there . he's now loving it in the 120 reef tank !!!

I had a problem with my clown jumping over...and what a pain to get him out. no problem with my firefish jumping!! Keep tryin!! Did you try removing the pump and putting a net in the chamber next to the pump, flat against the plastic and scoot the fish into the net through the slit at the bottom of the chamber?? I had to catch my clown in my hand when he jumped over...

I have two clownfish in my 12. The small one (male) would jump into the filter compartment every night. I will try to explain my fix. Buy a 10 gallon tank divider kit. This will contain a clear semi rigid plastic divider and several blue strips that clamp over the sides. Push the blue strips on the plastic front of the filter compartment of the Nano. They will have to be cut in places where the different compartments have a 90 degree divider.
Cut the clear into strips about 3/4" to 1" wide. Glue these strips (using super glue) to the top of the blue clamp strips. These should be flat on top. The goal is to create a fence sticking over the water. This can not be seen unless the tank is opened and prevents them from jumping over the top.

thanks for the info. Once I catch it I will try this to keep it out of the filtration part. He only looks pretty when you can see him and that is on the inside of the tank

FINNALY , WE GOT HIM AFTER 2 WEEKS.we had a piece of plexi glass cut to fit in the chamber and trapped him so he could not go underneath and netted him and put him in the tank. IT IS FINNALY OVER.

It looks like I am going to have to try what you did...I have a bi-color dottyback that has managed to jump back into the compartment that holds my powerhead in my 14G biocube! Everytime I try to get at him he slides back into that little crevice that seems to run underneath the entire back compartment.
