Firefish red and firefish purple

Are they pretty much the same fish just different color? I need to know if they are compatible for my tank as on the forums someone said its good to keep Firefish in pairs.
How much is a purple going for, a LFS has them for $25 while the red Firefish is $15

In my own experience I've kept them seperate, they can survive in the same tank. However I've read that there are territorial issues between the two color species, many times tending to be on opposite sides of the tank. You can check prices here on this website
