Firefish ?

I want to get two firefish (1 purple, 1 red) and have heard that you have to be careful. What do I need to look out for? Will 2 different kinds be okay?

Fireifsh are schooling fish and will do better in pairs or groups. One red and one purple by themselves may fight, but they may be perfectly fine also.

I have a red and purple, the red came first and is smaller then the purple, the purple is more aggresive and doesn't allow the red in his space at all! hey don't fight, but if my tank was small I would have a problem, they are in a 150 gal.

In a smallish tank they may fuss...but it would be possible in a tank over 100 gal or so.

i have two reds and a helfrichi firefish in a 55 with very little problems...

thanks. I have a 46 gal bow front so would it be better to just get 2 of the same kind instead of 1 red 1 purple?

you also have to be careful b/c they are jumpers
