I started my cycle anound 18 hours ago. we tested the water after about an hour or two.
ph-8.2
ammonia- 0
trite- 1.0
trate- 5.0
salinity- between 1.023 and 1.024
i hope all of our LR made it here alive. We had a 1 hour drive to get it here, and it took at least anothe hour to get it in the tank. It never dried out, but i am a worry wart LOL, so ...
here are some pics. Alot of the LR is just hastily placed in there. Ill keep updating this as we test the water.

u might not get a cycle at all if the lr are cured already. 1 hour isnt going to cause much dieoff at all. still wait 3-5 days b4 adding inverts or 1st fish, assuming ammonia and nitrite register at 0.

the guy at the shop said the LR is cured, and that he had it for around 2 weeks.
does my LR look OK? I i hope none of it is dead.

I am sure it is fine. All the little critters should be ok. It usually ships for days with just damp paper on it. I got some LR and it sat in the box and it came with a free peppermint shrimp! He is still alive and kickin'. There might be some die off. Keep checking your water every few days. Just be patient.

Your aquascaping looks great! Just be carefull having it close to the sides. Might make it difficult to clean.

Looks good to me. I'm just going through a cycle too in a 72 g bowfront. I added LR that was already cured from a local and some from this site. I didn't have much of a cycle so I have had a shrimp in the DT for 5 days now. Ammonia peaked at 0.25 and is back to near 0 now. I just wanted to be sure that it had cycled before adding any live stock, that's the reason I did the shrimp. Good luck with your DT.

you really can't cycle with cured LR ... try ghost feeding the tank or add a raw shrimp for a couple of days.

thanx!
I put the rock in first, then pu the sand in around the rock. Unfortunatly, i might need to move some of the rocks on the bottom, though...

u dont need to dump a dead shrimp in there to cycle the tank, since the lr is cured already, and has enough bacteria to quickly convert any waste from ammonia to nitrite.

its a personal choice at this point. if u ghost feed, u can add more livestocks at once. if not, u just gotta do it slow.
