Currently I have 2 Large HOB Emperors and a good sized Power Head to move some water. My tank is a 125g FOWLR setup with just a few fish at this time. I have an old 29g tank that is no longer in use so I figured now was the time to switch to a sump setup. I've searched a few of the thousands of threads about DIY sumps, but feel I need to get a good understanding of what it's really designed to do before I launch into building mine. Can someone recommend a good spot to start and a common simple approach?
Here's a few of my first questions:
Is a 29g sump large enough for 125g FOWLR DT?
I want to add a protein skimmer (I've been told) would that go first in line or at the end before water is pumped back to the DT?
Is a sand bed required?
Live Rock would be placed in the sump correct?
