Hi, I just picked up my first fish today it is a rainford goby for my 29g I was actually told that these guys will eat hair algae.. is this true??
I also got some frozen food that my lfs suggested.. brine shrimp plus
I can already see lots of personality from this guy not shy at all.. and great colors...
my lfs says instead of feeding 1 full meal split it up into 3.. do these guys like macro algae... ie chaetomorpha??
any extra special care? or any valuable info is welcomed!! :happyfish

They said to feed him 3 times a day?? Thats alot of feeding, I feed my fish once every other day. Over feeding can lead to alot of problems, how old is your tank?

I think they mean to feed it one meals worth spread over 3 times a day, and not a full meal 3 times a day.

hah.. nope... but i did make 2 of the same posts by accident and don't know how to delete the other one
anyways anything special i must do or any comments or info about the fish?
in addition are they jumpers??
I have had him for 3 days now.. he looks healthy and happy but he does not touch the frozen brine shrimp plus.. stuff.. my lfs told me it would be good for him cuz its not just brine shrimp it has all different kinds of fish meat mixed in... i do see him pick at the walls tho.. is he eating the pods off the glass?? i also see him pick stuff off the sand.. is this a thing to worry about?? should i get some other type of food?

Rainfords are like mandarins and "scooter blennies" in that they almost always starve. They don't eat algae. They eat micro-critters and your new tank doesn't have enough of those.

They are listed as hair alge eaters, and i have seen mine picking at rocks, and also sifting sand though his gills.
