Hey Guys
What should you do for a fish at the first signs of stress.
One of my green chromis is freaking out a little bit. Last night I checked the H20 params and everything looked good. I did my usual feeding and He did eat a little. But then he goes back an puts his nose in one of the top or bottom corners of the tank.

find the sourse of the stress.
keeping low lighting helps, hidding spaces may help.
is there another fish that is picking on him? are your test kits expired? (this could give you bad results on test)
when was this fish added?
I can tell my fish are stressed by the way they act...hard to explain b/c each fish is different, the fish starts to act different than normal.
eating is a good sign

It's one of my Green Chromis and it has been in the tank since November 02.
I just added 2 percs about 2 weeks ago and it seems to have upset the pecking order somehow.
Before it was just 2 chromis and a velvet damsel. Somehow with the addition of the two percs this chromis got shifted to the bottom of the pecking order.
I watched the tank for about an hour last night and the other chromis and the velved damsel were pestering the stressed chromis. Percs were just chillin.
Thanks,

Try to separate the velvet damsel for a while to see if he's the cause of the chromis stress (that is if you can catch it :D

if the velved damsel is picking on the fish, then could be why the fish is stressed.
"it seems to have upset the pecking order somehow." yep, this happens, esp if fish are smaller....
if the body shape is the same for velved damsel and Green Chromis (i have no idea, never had either) then there is a better change of them no getting along. if the body shape is the same, try getting a diff damsel with diff body shape. (that is if you want to take back the velved damsel).
how long has this been going on? it may settle down without you having to do anything.
if you want, you can move lr around, this will upset the territory the fish have established and may help (this works when new additions are being picked on...)
good luck
