hello all!! i just got my first skimmer today for my 40 breeder-soon-to-be-reef. Its the coralife 65 super skimmer and all thats in it now are some mushrooms, a moroon clownfish, and a CBS. I also had a huge algae bloom so i couldnt see 2 inches into my tank!!! after a few weeks of water changes with a D/I filter i bought, it had got better, but i sitll couldnt seen half way past the tank. So today i put the skimmer in. and although its not even "broken in" yet, i already have about an inche of pure blackish/green bunk in the cup!! You can see a difference in the clearity of the tank and it is less green!! sorry, dont have a digital camer for pics... but after a refugium/sump thats next on my list!! Anyone else have experience with these skimmers? cant wait until it breaks in completly!! This makes my day... even though my finals start tomorrow for school when most of my friends from other towns got out today if they werent already out, im one happy kid right now! Phew, sorry for talking so much here but no one else has any idea what im saying when i talka bout my tank. Those who will even listen anymore that is.

ol...i know exactly what you mean. When my friends come over now, they look at the tank and they do enjoy it, but when i start talking about this or that, they kinda stop me and are like "tank looks cool, dont care how it works..."
Anyway, congrats on the skimmer!
I was going to be purchasing one, and aqua c remora pro, but decided to try a refugium first with cheato. I'll post soon how that worked out as its only been a week since i added it.
Good luck!

A good skimmer is a thing of immense beauty :D  Enjoy! Soon you will gaze at it lovingly, be able to look at it and take great pride in the swirling bubbles and "quality" of the skimmer sludge.

hey.s orry this had taken so long. as usual, ive been really busy... anyways, here is a pic with about a weeks worth of skimate. note however, that i skim very very dry with this skimmer. i have a remora pro on the same tank that i skime very wet with, and i skim very dry with this one....
keep in mind that the flashlight right on the other side of the collection cup is REALLY bright, and you still cant see through it.
