damsels arent that bad, i mean, if you know what they can cause and are prepared to keep it, or are prepared to empty your tank to get it out.

My tank is about 1.5 months old. It is 50 lbs. of LR. This week may be the damnsels last week in my tank if my trap pulls thru.

I really like your selection of rock. Lots of neat shapes. Any chance of getting one good piece of live rock with corralline? I say this because this is how I started my tank. Bare looking rocks with one or two pieces of corraline encrusted rocks......Before you know it it was covering every piece. Just a suggestion. Looks really promising!!

coraline is a type of encrusting algae that come in various colors. the most common is purple. coraline will grow as your tank matures, although, there are ways to jump start it. after about 4-6 months, it should start to appear. like said above, get a rock with some on it.

Keeping your perameters in check....specific gravity 1.025-1.027, ph 8.0-8.4, (eventhough many successful tanks run at 7.8), Carbonate hardness 7-10 dKH, calcium at least 400, but better to have it around 420-450, temp 78-82 degrees. And of course, nitrate as low as possible, nitrite 0, ammonia 0, and phosphates very low to zero. This is introduced in foods and some water sources. Most importantly a mature tank of at least 45-60 days. ( Less fluctuation in the perameters to kill off the newly introduced corraline.)
Running actinics will promote corraline once introduced. They need at least 12 hours of lighting to grow. 2-4 watts per gallon will accomplish this nicely with some already in the tank. This however, is not enough lighting to keep anything other than soft corals, mushrooms for example.
The picture enclosed is of my yellow figi leather......but, look at the purple on the rocks...this is corralline. Very attractive, but, better yet where it grows, you will not get nuisance algae. Another possitive for a very pretty encrusting algae.

I honestly think that you could have a sweet damsel only fish tank. there are some GREAT colored damsels and if you didn't want to try to get them out, i'd say fill it with damsels.
