First off, what kinds of corals do you want to keep in the tank? Softies, LPS, SPS, clams, and/or anemones?

:happyfish Ya, knowing what you would like to keep would be good. I had a 29 gal. tall, and I had 2- 55 watt power compacts. Half 10k, half actinic true 03. That was a total of 110 watts. I could keep most soft corals, but really no hard corals for more than a few months. But that is a good starting point to jump off from. But if you have the money to spend, get metal halides definately. I think your ok on the filtration. Canister filters are a good way to go in small setups, when a fuge or sump isn't possible, or you don't have the money to set one up even if you make it yourself. You can always add a sump later as extra filtration to your canister. Good luck, and keep us all informed.
