hello I am new at all of this salt water stuff so please be gentle. I have keept a freshwater tank for years but I have decided to jump into the world of salt. I have looked at many threads and have decided (at least I think so) to set up my 30g with LR and LS. I have been told to try and find southdown play sand at Home Depot. I was not able to find it at my local store, however I did find something caled Filter Sand, is this close to the same thing or do I need to find the southdown? If anyone can help I would appreciate it, thanks!

I don't know if that sand is good or not. I think basicly you need sand that is not silica based. Some will say only use agronite sand in your tank. That is good advice if you can afford it. Do a search to see if anyone has poster other types of sand you can use.

More than likely, if it is filter sand for like a pool filter, it is silicate sand. Preferrably I would use aragonite and not silicate
