Hey guys.. im new to salt water tanks and needed a little help.
I just setup my tank a few weeks ago, my water was filtered, the water levels for great. I had a few fish in the tank (2 clown, 1 yellow tang, and 1 blue tang). I hadn't added any coral or anemones until today. I added a purple anemone and two live rock. One hour and a half later all my fish started dieing!
Was it my anemone? Or could it have been something else?
Please help...

u need to post all water test results....a tank set up for a couple weeks would in no possible way be able to handle that kind of stock list.....anemone's need near perfect water conditions and well established tanks, most say 6 months min. before trying one

Sorry! :(
Sounds like you've been given a lot of bad info. about starting a sw tank. I suggest you read the stickies at the top of this forum. A lot of good info. there!
How big is your tank? What kind of filtration do you have? Did you cycle your tank before adding fish?
Great water parameters is not enough info for us. What did you test for, and what are your actual results?
Was the live rock you added cured? (My guess is it wasn't and caused a spike, in addition to your high bioload)
How quickly did you add these fish? Any live rock in there before the 2 pieces you just added?

First of all, this kind of thing happens regularly, so don't feel too terrible, but if your fish store set you up with the whole thing and new your situation when selling you those fish and anemones, go back and punch them in the snot box because they totaly were wasting your money and sending those animals to certain death.

Welcome to the site..I hope you stay and learn, we love to help but sadly often people don’t seek us out until there is trouble, such as this case.
A few weeks is not enough time before adding fish and coral, let alone so many at once. The fish are dying because of an ammonia spike caused after adding so many fish…then add an anemone which shouldn’t be placed in a tank before 6 months of age.
2 pieces of live rock??? You need almost as much pound of rock as the size tank…for example in my 90g I have about 80 LBs of live rock and certainly not after you add fish, you should have the rock first. Or are you saying you added 2 pieces to what you already had?
