With frozen food, what I do is this: I have two plastic cups and a very fine tea strainer. I take 2 or 3 ounces of water from my DT and add a whole cube of frozen to the strainer. I then hold the strainer (with the frozen cube) over the empty plastic cup and pour the water from the cup with water to the empty cup. I go back and forth until it is totally disolved and then scoop out a very small piece of the thawed food from the strainer and feed my fish. I do it this way because I am paranoid about introducing any frozen parasites to my tank. The only guy in my tank eating the food is my clown. He don't need much so I don't give him much. My .02.
i'm a little confused... 1, wouldn't the parasites die once they are frozen. Even if they thaw in the tank and even if the fish eat them, they are still dead so how can they harm the fish. They can't attach to the fish and begin feeding off of them if they're dead.
and 2, when you pick out the chunks of food, how do you know you aren't puting a tiny parasite into the tank along with the shrimp or frozen food??
I take a few ounces of tank water and put a small chunk of frozen food in it. Then let it thaw out and add a little bit of the water w/ the food. When they eat that little bit, i add a little bit more to prevent it from getting all over my tank
