Fish And Light

I have a fish only tank with a low wattage regular fluorescent light for viewing the fish only. On two different occasions, I have added a new fish that was eating in the LFS, but when I introduce it to my tank stopped eating. I have three other fish which I have had since I started the tank about three months ago. They are fine and healthy and eat great. The water parameters are right on. The salinity is the same as the LFS because I buy all my water there, both salt and RO. My lighting is a lot dimmer than the light in the store though. I guess my question is, should the light be increased to t5s. I have some live rock in the tank that I would like to maintain a decent algae growth on for the angelfish. My tank is 40 gal. Any thoughts about increasing the light. The new fish I just added is a lemon peel angel.

i dont think it has anything to do with the light.. also imo your tank could have a different salinity level than your lfs, because of how much evaporation there might be in your LFS's tank compared to yours... anyways what type of fish are in your tank? and what have u tried adding that died? also you said your tank has been set up for 3 months right?

Did you see it eat or did they just tell you it was eating? How long has it been in your tank it might just be stressed out from the move. If it still isn't eating in a couple more days I would try live brine and treating their food in selcon or garlic

Thanks for your interest and thoughts. In answer to some of the questions, I checked the salinity in the bag the fish was brought home in as well as the tank. They both measured 35 ppt. The tank has been set up for 3 months. The only inhabitants I have are a Diamond Goby,Firefish Goby and a clown fish. The only live rock I have is mostly for decorations, but I would estimate it to be around twelve pounds. I have a wet-try filter with bioballs, skimmer, and maintain the temp around 80 degrees. The fish I have tried to add were pigmey angels. One was a Bicolor, one was a Coral Beauty, the Last was the Lemon Peel. The Lemon peel got very listliss and had bruise like spots on its sides so today I eliminated it while I could still catch it. The other fish are just fine, eating and growing. I saw the angel eat, and it ate just fine the first day I had it. I only had it for 5 days. I have since installed a t5 light fixture giving much more light. It will be better for the live rock creatures. Maybe I am just not meant to have an angel fish.
