fish compatibility

hey all, I just have a simple Q, I have a friend that's giving me a Purple Tang, and I was just wondering if it will be compatible with my Naso Tang? I had a Yellow Tang and my Naso killed it......will it kill the purple also? or will it have the chance to kill my Naso?

I would say its alright to have a purple and a naso, BUT since your naso has allrdy killed a yellow tang im not sure on this. They needed to be introduced at the same time so there would be more chances of them getting along. Sounds like your Naso is pretty aggressive and allrdy has his territory made. :D

I agree, your tank is too small for two tangs. I woudn't even suggest having two tangs in a 100 gl. Tangs are agressive towards fish that have the same body shape as they do like other kinds of tangs. Either choose one or the other.

Purples do tend to be much more aggressive than any of the other tangs, I'm sure he'd hold his own -- I'm sure your Naso's behavior (usually they are quite peaceful) is due to the confines of your size tank. If you are going to house two tangs in the same aquarium--opposite body style is the only way (like naso is oval and the purple is round) that usually works quite well--in a bigger tank. I'd give it a 50/50 chance.
Good Luck
