is it okay to feed fish every other day? I alternate between protein pellets and algae pellets. 1 day i give protein pellets skip a day then give them algae pellets. Or should I not skip a day?

yes, And I've seen most reccomend not using pellets at all. if they are grazing fish then they need something constantly to munch on so an alage sheet in the tank is a good idea, if they are meat eaters then yes every other day is just fine.

Pellets are only slightly better than flaked food. Not really the best choice. Try to feed something that resembles food.
That said, they should be fed regularly once or twice a day but skipping several days occationally does no harm.

If you must use pellets I'd maybe look into the Spectrum brand. They make sinking pellets. My fish used to love them, I used them when I was first starting out. Tang and clowns both would eat them without a problem. But I did also feed emerald entree for the tang as well as algae sheets from time to time.
These days I feed the tank with Rods food (reef blend) but they do make a fish only blend. There's a little something for everyone in it. Marine cuisine and emerald entree are readily available at just about every fish store and pet store that sells fish. Just throwing that out there for something to consider.
I feed once a day, but I do skip a day here and there. My fish don't seem to be in any danger of starving.

S;pectrum Thera +A is a good pellet
BUT Wayner....your fish need meaty foods too....like frozen mysis, marine cuisine, emerald entree
I have lots of pellets and flakes from my beginner days.....I use them as a treat here and there.....nothing more. If you want your fish to be healthy, you need to feed more nutritious foods

I have heard this. I think it might have something to do with proper diet, sort of like a starving dog is usually more aggressive.
Wayner, if you have a tang, you really need to be offering algae sheets daily. They don't have to be on a suction cupped clip. You can rubberband them to a rock and leave it in the tank. This can look much more natural than a seaweed clip, but they need the algae, and they need it daily. Clowns can go a day or two here and there without eating, but tangs, especially young tangs, which I seem to remember yours being, need algae to keep them healthy on a daily basis (missing a day here or there is okay).
