Fish Food Quality

Whatever happened to the Feeding section added to the BB when all the new forums were added?? Oh well.
Anyway, has anybody ever noticed, and I'm sure you have, that the lable contents of flaked foods has a much higher nutrient content then does frozen foods? Wouldn't that suggest that flakes are better than frozen?

Does the blender chop things up finely enought? I have smaller fish, and they won't eat big chunks.
Also, I bet this is alot of trouble.
Awhile back I bought a variety of frozen fish foods, let it all thaw out a bit then mixed and chopped it up together. After which I added vitimins then packaged back up into individual daily packets. I wasn't really sure that thawing the frozen food and then re-freezing was such a good idea. This was rather time consuming.
Did you use canned peas? When you blended it, was it mush?

Well, Iron, I have to say that you inspired me to whip up some home made meals for my fish today. LOL While at the grocery store shopping for people food, I dropped by the seafood counter and picked up a small batch of squid, shrimp and scallops. Took this home and got out my old blender that I never use. Added Seaweed Selects to the fresh seafood mix as well as some fress raw carrots [as this is supposed to be good for HLLE which my tangs have] and, to make everything blend real well, I added Zoecon. What a great blend! My fish thought it was Chrismas dinner! I have enough for at least a month so I packaged the blend up into daily packets and put them in the freezer. Thanks for the inspiration! [But I must say, that stuff sure does stink!]

I didn't have broccoli handy, but I did do some research on HLLE and found an article where a public aquarium was having difficulty with HLLE with their blue tangs. They tried brocolli and peas, but what really worked was the carrots. So I went with that. If they continue to eat this mix up well, I will vary it the next go round with peas and lots of the Seaweed Selects, [which I did put in this mixture].
Thanks for the tip!

OK, i'm confused. If you blend all this up into a liquid and freeze it. Do you defrost it b* 4 you put it into the tank. If so, doesn't it just turn into a liquid and there is nothing really left for the fish to eat. However, if you leave it frozen is that good for the fish due to the cold temp?
Also, i've heard you can feed raw shrimp to the fish. Is it OK if i just mince raw shrimp, scollops, etc and feed it to my tank? It seems like these small peices would be better than a liquid as described above?
Any comments?
